Baggy Cat Games, the studio responsible for the viral full-motion video horror title At Dead of Night, has announced that a sequel is coming very soon. The new entry, subtitled The Great Hugo, picks up the narrative half a decade after the events of the original game.
The story reunites players with protagonist Maya, who remains haunted by her experiences at the Sea View Hotel. In an attempt to find answers regarding her past, she recalls the ghost box she utilized during her escape and left behind in the hotel. After searching auction sites and antique shops for a similar device without success, Maya contacts Quinn, an old friend and counselor who previously helped her process her supernatural encounters.
Quinn recognizes the device and reveals it was manufactured by an inventor residing in a large Tudor manor house located near the Sea View Hotel. Despite Quinn's warnings against attempting to activate the device, Maya disregards his advice and proceeds with her own investigation into the manor.
The original At Dead of Night gained rapid fame during the pandemic, largely driven by streamers and content creators such as Markiplier, 8-BitRyan, John Wolfe, and DomPlays. These figures introduced audiences to Jimmy Hall, a creepy hotel landlord obsessed with recruiting viewers for his late-night comedy show and his psychopathic alter ego, Hugo Punch.
While the developer has not specified an exact release date beyond the promise that it is coming very soon, they have indicated they will provide further updates as information becomes available.
