Bethesda has confirmed that its next major role-playing game is titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The announcement came in a short teaser at the end of a video looking back on the studio’s 40-year history, with no release date or launch window provided.
In the video, creative director Todd Howard said the anniversary was a fitting moment to share the game’s name. The teaser then showed a scroll buried in sand before revealing the title Sentinel.
Sentinel is a major city in Hammerfell in The Elder Scrolls lore. Hammerfell is believed to be the setting for the upcoming game, though Bethesda did not confirm that in the teaser. The imagery of a scroll emerging from the sand also appears to echo previous reporting about the game exploring the ancient origins of the Elder Scrolls.
This is the first new teaser for the RPG since Bethesda announced it at E3 2018. The studio has yet to give a release date or even a general launch window. In June 2026, Howard indicated that the game could still be years away and that it was too early for a full re-reveal.
