Bethesda has confirmed that its next Elder Scrolls game is titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The subtitle appeared in a video celebrating the studio’s 40th anniversary and looking back at its highlights.

The video offered little new information about the game beyond a title card in the series’ familiar font. It also included a line attributed to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell in 4E 206: “The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.”

The reference to Hammerfell has drawn attention because a recent report from The Verge said the game would be set there and explore the history and secrets of the Elder Scrolls. The quote may suggest a connection, but Bethesda has not confirmed those details.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced in 2018, and little has been revealed since. Bethesda has not announced a release date or platforms. Earlier this year, Todd Howard said most of Bethesda Game Studios’ staff were working on the game and that the team knew it needed to get it right.
