Call of Duty: Warzone is set to receive a new weather system later this week as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s Season 1 update. Raven Software says the change will bring conditions such as rain and wind to matches, making each drop feel less predictable.

The weather appears to be selected before a match begins rather than changing dynamically during gameplay. As a result, players should not expect weather cycles similar to those found in games such as Grand Theft Auto. Instead, different conditions could give individual matches a distinct atmosphere and potentially affect how players approach the map.

Rain, for example, could reduce visibility or make footsteps more noticeable when players move through puddles. The update is intended to add variety to Warzone’s maps, which have otherwise seen little environmental change over recent years.

Weather was also recently introduced to multiplayer matches in Wardogs, where it reportedly brought gameplay changes. Some players have additionally asked for a day-and-night cycle in Warzone, which could give night-vision goggles a larger role. Those goggles are currently part of the game’s DMZ extraction mode and are mainly used inside facilities without power.

The Warzone update will launch on November 6 alongside two new maps included in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1.
