In a November 2 investor relations report, Capcom highlighted the commercial success of the new Street Fighter film during its opening weekend. The company stated it remains dedicated to expanding its intellectual property through various channels, including merchandise, live events, esports, and potential future films.

The movie, produced in collaboration with Legendary, secured the number one spot at the box office upon release. However, the film experienced a steep decline in subsequent weeks, suffering a 72% drop in its second week. Estimates suggest the film earned approximately $91.9 million globally against a reported budget of $80 million, raising questions about the financial viability of a sequel from the studio's perspective.

Despite these figures, Capcom emphasized the film's initial performance to investors and reiterated its adherence to the Single Content Multiple Usage strategy. First outlined in a 2023 integrated report, this approach aims to utilize proprietary content across multiple platforms by adapting it into movies, theater productions, and other non-game media. The goal is to enhance corporate value and achieve sustainable growth by increasing visibility through marketing, crossovers, and merchandise.

The latest report noted that Capcom executed a worldwide promotional tour alongside the film's release, including premiere events in Japan and the U.S., as well as collaborations with game titles. These initiatives were credited with generating global popularity for the project. The company affirmed its intention to continue advancing the multifaceted use of its game portfolio.

While the financial outlook appears challenging for Legendary after two weeks, there is strong momentum from the cast regarding future installments. Olivier Richters, who portrayed Zangief, revealed that the entire cast signed contracts for three films. He explained that the first movie was designed to provide a glimpse of characters like Zangief, with the promise that they would have more prominent roles in sequels if produced.

Audience reception has been generally positive toward the comedic action film, though critical reviews were mixed. IGN awarded the movie a score of 6 out of 10. Reviewer Tom Jorgensen noted that while the film benefits from an enthusiastic cast and an anarchic spirit, director Kitao Sakurai's adaptation struggles to focus that energy into a well-told narrative.
