Daniel Craig’s 2011 psychological thriller *Dream House* is finding a new audience on streaming, climbing HBO Max’s international movie charts despite a poor critical reception when it was released. The film is ranked No. 3 in several countries, according to FlixPatrol.
Directed by Jim Sheridan, *Dream House* follows Will Atenton, a successful publisher who leaves New York with his wife, Libby (Rachel Weisz), and their two daughters to start over in a quiet New England town. Their new home carries a disturbing history: a mother and her children were murdered there, and the surviving husband was suspected of the killings.
Will investigates the case with help from Ann Patterson (Naomi Watts), a neighbor who knew the family. As he uncovers more about the tragedy, the mystery surrounding the house grows increasingly unsettling.
The film currently has a 7% critics’ score and a 36% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics took issue with its slow pacing and predictable psychological-thriller twists. More than a decade after its theatrical release, its chart performance is giving the film another opportunity to reach viewers.
