Disney has announced Mickey’s Home Alone, an animated special planned for Disney Jr. this Christmas. It blends the familiar premise of Home Alone with Mickey Mouse and his friends in a version aimed at younger children.

The story begins when Minnie plans a trip to an Ice Palace to surprise the group. In the morning rush to leave, Mickey and Pluto are accidentally left behind. They must protect the house and the Christmas dinner from two new intruders, a raccoon and a weasel, while Minnie and the others try to find a way back home.

The special takes a lighter approach than the original 1990s film, with its villains designed to be less frightening for younger viewers. Disney has previously made episodes with a similar setup, including Garage Alone in 2017 and Home Aloners, released in September.
