The cast of Dune-part-three/">Dune: Part Three has responded to criticism from readers of Frank Herbert’s books over changes made for the film by director Denis Villeneuve. In an interview with The New York Times, Zendaya acknowledged differences from the source material but said much of the story remains faithful to the books.

Robert Pattinson, who joins the film series as the assassin Scytale, said it takes “a bit of madness” to look for faults in the project. He also noted that the film focuses heavily on parenthood, pointing to the presence of Paul and Chani’s children in the story.

Timothée Chalamet, who plays Paul Atreides, defended the trilogy’s conclusion, saying the film maintains a high level of quality while having an identity of its own.

Dune: Part Three is scheduled to arrive in cinemas and IMAX on December 18.
