Following the recent reveal of the new appearance for the hero of Exodus, Archetype Entertainment has unveiled a substantial 40-minute gameplay video aimed at revitalizing enthusiasm among fans of the Mass Effect franchise. The studio, composed of veterans from BioWare and other industry houses, presents combat sequences that further solidify the thematic connection between their upcoming sci-fi odyssey and the adventures of Commander Shepard.

The new in-game footage follows the exploits of protagonist Jun Aslan as he attempts to rescue the Kay, a hybrid species of sentient humanoid frogs. This mission is central to the game's lore, which features "Awakened" animals created by humans using advanced cybernetics and bioengineering to assist in space colonization. Saving the Kay represents a critical step in Jun's journey through the alien worlds of the Centauri Cluster to protect future humanity from an impending galactic threat.

The video also introduces Salt, an intelligent octopus who serves as one of Jun's most loyal companions. Salt provides advice during exploration phases, assists in dialogue interactions, and offers combat support. However, strengthening the bond with Salt requires a complex system that accounts for the moral alignment of decisions made by Jun throughout the main campaign and various side missions.

Additionally, the new trailer confirms the previously announced launch date for Exodus. The title is scheduled to release on April 7, 2027, simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 Pro, and Steam Deck. Developed and published by Archetype Entertainment, the game is classified as an Action RPG.
