Sprites have returned to the island with the arrival of the Fortnite Chapter 7 mini season, titled 'Treasure Hunters.' Functioning similarly to previous iterations, players must locate these characters around the map, level them up, and extract them to achieve mastery. Successfully mastering a sprite unlocks various rewards, including Sprite Dust and cosmetic items. While sprites from earlier seasons cannot be used for gameplay mechanics in this update, they remain accessible within the Sprite Garden game mode and can serve as decorative back bling styles if previously mastered.
The new roster features several distinct characters, many of which appear in different variants that are slightly harder to obtain but offer additional effects. The Fortune variant reveals nearby chests, while the Cursed variant increases the likelihood of finding rare sprite types at the cost of taking damage from water. Epic Games has indicated that more variants will be released as the season progresses.
The full list of new sprites and their specific abilities includes Halfpeel'd, which marks eliminations on the map with a detection range that expands per level. Re-Pete offers faster reload speeds with a chance to refund ammo, while Barry O'Fish reduces stamina consumption while sprinting in water and grants a Slap effect upon reaching maximum level. Exmarks reveals nearby Treasure Maps and Wanted Posters, spawning a new map at max level.
Other additions include Plundarrgh, which boosts pickaxe and movement speed when opening chests, and Chester, who may spawn extra loot from chests and cancels fall damage. The Wayfinder sprite reveals nearby sprites and generates additional loot from Buried Chests. Kelper restores health over time while in water, with healing amounts increasing at higher levels. Lil' Squibbly allows players to jump into fishing holes to catch fish and score bonus loot, whereas Lil’ Flacko creates a shockwave on landing that knocks back opponents. Finally, Sweet Dreams, described as a distant cousin of the Dream Sprite, grants a random item with each level-up and bursts with Mythic loot at maximum level.
