Frostpunk 2’s next DLC, The Surge, is scheduled to launch on December 14. The expansion introduces a new scenario set in a region beyond those explored in the game so far, where survivors seek a relic said to have the potential to reshape the world.
The story follows a group travelling across the UK who arrive in a mysterious valley after hearing rumours about a marvel left behind by history’s greatest mind. The relic appears to provide access to extensive electrical power, but factions disagree over how it should be used. The secrets hidden in the valley also prove harder to uncover than expected.
The DLC will let players use the Great Storm, which devastated the planet, to turn catastrophic whiteouts into resources that can be harvested and stored. It will also feature treasures to find and mysteries to investigate in nearby caves and ruins. The relic is implied to be connected to Nikola Tesla.
