God of War: Laufey will now launch on May 20, 2027, three months later than planned. Sony Santa Monica announced the delay in a social media post, moving the PS5 game away from a crowded February release window.

The studio did not give a specific reason for the change. It said it would use the additional time to add the finishing touches and bring the game to its full potential, thanking fans for their patience.

Laufey puts Faye in the lead role, making it the first game in the PlayStation series not to star Kratos. The adventure follows her through an afterlife populated by gods from multiple mythologies and is set to bring back the series’ faster combat.

Kratos will also appear during Faye’s journey, and Sony Santa Monica has said a future God of War game will connect to the events of Laufey. The game was revealed in June, and the studio said it plans to share more updates soon.
