Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey from its planned February release to May 20, 2027. The studio announced the new date on November 4, saying it wants more time to complete the PS5 exclusive and bring it to its fullest potential.
In its statement, the team thanked players for their excitement since the game was revealed in June and said it would use the additional time to add the finishing touches. It also thanked fans for their patience and said it would share more updates soon.
God of War Laufey stars Faye, Kratos’ late wife, on a journey through the Everywhen. The story is set alongside the events of the 2018 God of War and its sequel, Ragnarök, with Faye seeking to help Kratos and their son, Atreus, from beyond.
