Google has added a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Easter egg that recreates the look of its search engine from 1998. To activate it, search for “zelda” and submit the query. A Master Sword then appears in the bottom-right corner of the page.
Clicking the sword places it into a pedestal, accompanied by an audio effect and a visual distortion. The page then switches to a recreation of Google’s older interface, with search results presented as a series of blue links. It also includes the “I’m feeling lucky” option, which directs users to a random result.
The choice of 1998 references the year the original Ocarina of Time launched on Nintendo 64. The remake is scheduled to release on November 5, while Nintendo has begun showing more of the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive ahead of its launch.
The original report also notes that previews have highlighted differences between the remake and the N64 game. Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Zelda series at Nintendo, said some younger members of the development team had never played the original, describing that as beneficial to the remake’s development.
