Google has integrated a unique easter egg into its search engine to pay homage to The Legend of Zelda series, coinciding with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake on November 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2. This digital tribute highlights a significant historical parallel: both Google and the original Ocarina of Time were established in 1998.

Users can activate this feature by searching for terms such as "Zelda," "The Legend of Zelda," or "Ocarina of Time Remake." Upon performing these searches, an animation featuring the Master Sword appears in the bottom right corner of the screen. When users interact with this graphic, which includes accompanying audio, the interface undergoes a complete transformation.

The search results page reverts to the design used by Google in 1998. This retro version strips away modern functionalities such as promoted results, AI-generated summaries, and links to short videos. Instead, it displays only the classic list of links alongside the company's original logo, effectively transporting users back to the era when both the search giant and the iconic Nintendo 64 title first launched.

The easter egg arrives alongside the launch of the Ocarina of Time Remake, an updated version of the classic game featuring a refreshed visual style. While the remake retains the core adventure known to fans, it introduces modern enhancements including gyro controls, microphone support, and polished movement options like manual jumping and running. The title also features localized text and voice acting in Spanish.
