Although GTA 6 is expected to cost between 80 and 100 euros depending on the edition, investor Mark Tilbury has suggested that the game could ultimately save players thousands of dollars. His claim comes from a viral video presented as a humorous calculation rather than a serious financial analysis.
Tilbury argues that players could spend entire days in Rockstar Games' fictional Vice City instead of going out for expensive meals, drinks, holidays or other forms of entertainment. Under this logic, time spent at home with the game would reduce spending in the real world.
The calculation assumes that players will spend at least 80 hours with GTA 6. Based on the reported prices, that would put the cost of the Ultimate Edition at approximately $1.25 per hour, while the standard version would cost around $1 per hour. For someone who plays 200 hours on a PS5, the hourly cost would fall below one dollar.
Tilbury's estimate then assigns a cost of $100 to each hour spent going out for restaurants, drinks and other leisure activities. Over 50 hours, that would amount to $5,000 in avoided spending. After subtracting the assumed $100 cost of the game, the calculation suggests a net saving of $4,900.
The claim is clearly intended as a playful provocation, but it has sparked discussion about the perceived cost of gaming compared with other forms of entertainment. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro. Rockstar Games is developing the action title, while Take-Two Interactive is publishing it.
