Despite expectations that anticipation for GTA 6 could boost sales of both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the game’s reveal has not produced a noticeable positive effect on Microsoft’s consoles, according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella.

Speaking to GamesBeat, Piscatella said Xbox Series sales were weak in September, marking the platform’s worst September on record and falling 27% in units compared with the same month a year earlier. He said the figures showed no detectable positive impact from the GTA 6 reveal on Xbox.

That assessment differs from a report by The Game Business last month, which said Xbox sales had risen 34% after an extended look at GTA 6 was released on Netflix. However, those figures covered the UK market only.
