The time needed to finish The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 remake depends on how much of Hyrule players explore. Three accounts published by IGN and Eurogamer put a main-story run at around 21 hours and full completion at roughly 27 to 30 hours, though familiarity with the original helped each player progress more quickly.
IGN senior editor Logan Plant reached the credits in 21 hours and completed every Piece of Heart, Gold Skulltula and other collectible after 30 hours. He estimated that around five hours went toward exploring the world, and said knowledge of the original game helped him through puzzles, quests and boss fights. A second, mostly story-focused playthrough took him about 14 hours. Plant also warned that the remake supports only one save file: manually saving a new game can overwrite the previous one.
Eurogamer’s Lottie Lynn estimated about 27 hours for the story, side quests, Heart Pieces and Gold Skulltulas, excluding time spent looking for differences from the original and riding Epona. She said her familiarity with the game helped her complete it quickly. IGN’s Brendan Graeber also put his playthrough at around 27 hours, including full completion, after searching Hyrule for collectibles and changes.
The accounts suggest that returning players who focus on the main story may finish in about 21 hours, while collecting everything can take closer to 27 to 30 hours. Exploring at a more leisurely pace can add further time.
