Bai Chilian is the final boss of the Red Forest in Phantom Blade Zero and a tougher opponent than the enemies encountered earlier in the area. Defeating her also grants the first piece of the Illusory Pipa, an item needed for the true ending, as well as a new weapon pair.

In the first phase, Bai Chilian relies heavily on teleportation. She often appears at a distance behind the player and may rush in with a fast guard-breaking attack marked by a black aura. Dodging it is important, as being hit drains all of the player’s Sha-Chi. She typically follows with one or two attacks and then a red attack, so players should be ready to respond to that sequence whenever she retreats.

Bai can also teleport directly into melee range with a red attack, or use a blue attack. When she appears close by, she uses regular attacks, sometimes ending a combo with a red strike. Switching weapons instantly restores stamina, or Sha-Chi, making weapon changes useful when the orange bar is nearly empty and a guard break is imminent.

After her first health bar is depleted, Bai Chilian gains four serpents and changes her moveset. In this phase, she uses more ranged attack sequences, which players should block. When she moves away and rises into the air, she will usually launch a red attack, though a blue one is also possible.

If Bai channels a storm in the middle of the arena, giant serpents appear around its edge. Destroy them one by one to reduce her Sha-Chi bar. The spell may be interrupted before every serpent is defeated if that bar has already been weakened. A friendly puppet also joins the fight during this phase, making the encounter easier.

Defeating Bai Chilian clears the way forward and rewards players with the first of four Illusory Pipa pieces, along with the dual weapon White Serpent and Red Viper, which is suited to fast attack sequences.
