Zhuo Bi blocks Soul’s path in the village of Lu in Phantom Blade Zero, using heavy armor and a large shield. The boss has a substantial shield gauge that absorbs most impacts and prevents many negative effects, making it important to focus on breaking through his defenses.
Before the fight, equip the Dread Axe or Iron Gauntlets alongside the Shield-Breaking Talisman. Upgrading the talisman is recommended, as it can provide 100% more damage against shields. Two-handed weapons with high impact are also useful for draining Zhuo Bi’s shield gauge faster. Once the gauge is empty, perform an execution, then repeat the process until he is defeated.
Zhuo Bi uses a wide range of special attacks, including red attacks and guard-break moves. Watch for these especially when he jumps or slides on his shield, but remain alert during his regular attack combos as well. His ranged vertical shield attack is followed by a wave of stones along the ground: dodging the initial strike can create an opportunity to counter in melee, while jumping can avoid the stone wave if a dodge comes too late.
Defeating Zhuo Bi clears the path and rewards Soul with the Bastion, a new spectral blade shaped like a large shield. It can help withstand some of the bosses’ most dangerous attacks and can also be used to pass the crossbow traps found in parts of the Red Forest.
