HoYoverse, the developer renowned for action RPGs such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, has officially announced the release date for its upcoming life simulation title, Petit Planet. The game is scheduled to launch on December 4 across PC, iOS, and Android platforms and will be available as a free download. This announcement marks a significant shift in genre for the studio, moving away from combat-heavy experiences toward a relaxed, colorful adventure reminiscent of Animal Crossing but set within a cosmic environment.
The core gameplay revolves around players acting as caretakers of a small planet that can be fully customized to their liking. Users will have the ability to modify the terrain, reshape coastlines, and alter the appearance of the sky. Beyond environmental design, the game offers traditional life simulation activities including building and decorating homes, farming, fishing, cooking, catching insects, and gathering materials to craft various items.
A central pillar of the experience is the interaction with neighbors, described as charming anthropomorphic creatures with distinct personalities and backstories. Players can befriend these characters, exchange gifts, share meals, and assist them with daily tasks to gradually build a small community. The adventure extends beyond the player's home world through exploration of the Sea of Stars, where new locations, creatures, and resources await discovery.
Social connectivity is facilitated by the Galactic Bazaar, a multiplayer hub where users can gather, trade, and participate in various social activities. HoYoverse emphasizes that Petit Planet is designed as a low-pressure experience without the combat demands of their previous titles, allowing each player to progress at their own pace and create their unique corner of the universe. On PC, the game will be accessible via both the Epic Games Store and HoYoverse's proprietary client, with pre-registration currently open.
