Johnny Depp has said that one reason he might return to the Pirates of the Caribbean series would be to give Captain Jack Sparrow and the franchise a more fitting farewell. He has not officially confirmed that he will reprise the role.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting his new film Ebenezer, Depp spoke about his relationship with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. He said he would work with Bruckheimer on any project, praising the friendship and trust they share.

The comments mark a change from Depp’s position in 2022, when he said in court that he would not return to the series even for $300 million.

Disney is also reportedly keen to bring the actor back. Krysty Wilson-Cairns is writing a new version of the script, with Margot Robbie planned for the lead role and Sparrow expected to have a supporting part.
