Johnny Depp says he is open to playing Jack Sparrow again in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film, despite previously saying he would not work with Disney on the franchise. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said he would want any return to help send the series off on a better note.

“If things are exactly where they need to be” to bring the Pirates story to a close, Depp said, he would be willing to work with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. He added that he trusts Bruckheimer and described their relationship as a deep friendship.

Depp made the earlier remarks during his legal battle with Amber Heard, saying he would not return even for a large payment. His latest comments mark the first time he has publicly expressed openness to the idea since ruling it out in 2023.

Bruckheimer has said in recent years that he has spoken with Depp about another Pirates film. A screenplay is in development, but no agreement with the actor has been finalized. Disney has also explored a separate Pirates project starring Margot Robbie, though it has made no notable progress, according to the report.
