Longtime fans of the series have been requesting remakes of the first two Persona titles for years. While some enthusiasts prioritize reviving PS2-era Shin Megami Tensei games, series producer Kazuhisa Wada addressed the demand in August, stating that he personally believes a remake is something the studio should definitely pursue.
Following this sentiment, nearly two minutes of footage resembling a Persona 1 remake has leaked via the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. The video showcases dungeon exploration, flashy combat sequences, and dialogue scenes rendered in the modern visual style characteristic of recent entries in the franchise.
A notable anomaly within the footage is the presence of Tatsuya, a character from Persona 2, as a party member. Observers speculate this could be a cross-promotional skin available for equipping or an indication that the remakes might incorporate crossover elements similar to the Persona Q series.
While skepticism regarding AI-generated content is understandable, the footage appears too lengthy and internally consistent to be artificial. Furthermore, Atlus has a history of leaks preceding official announcements, as was the case when the existence of the Persona 3 remake was first confirmed through similar channels.
