In an era where generative AI complicates the verification of digital content, any new leak must be treated with skepticism until officially confirmed. Despite this caution, emerging footage suggests that a remake of the first Persona game may indeed be in development. The video, which reportedly surfaced on Halloween, October 31st, was initially uploaded to the file-sharing site Gofile before being shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.
The leaked clip runs for just under two minutes and displays gameplay that aligns stylistically with contemporary Persona titles. The visual design mirrors the aesthetic established by Persona 5 and carried forward into the remakes of Persona 3 and Persona 4. One segment shows the protagonist navigating a school at night before initiating combat, while the battle system appears to retain the series' signature turn-based mechanics.
A defining characteristic of the footage is its overwhelming use of purple as a color theme, which coincides with artwork released for the franchise's 25th anniversary. However, an unusual detail has raised questions: the protagonist from Persona 2 is visible during a battle sequence. It remains unclear whether this implies a combination of both games, suggests that remakes for both titles are being developed simultaneously using shared assets, or if it is simply a placeholder element.
The possibility of remakes for Persona 1 and 2 is not entirely unexpected. Series producer Kazuhisa Wada recently stated in an interview that the studio would likely eventually tackle these earlier entries. While Sega has a history of leaks regarding various Persona projects, making this footage plausible, it should still be viewed with a degree of caution until official confirmation is provided.
