Magic: The Gathering is bringing back Sword of Truth and Justice in a Secret Lair collection styled after the low-polygon graphics of the Nintendo 64 and original PlayStation era. The sword, first released in 2019, is one of four reprinted cards in Rise of the Polygons | Extra Life 2026, which also includes an Elemental token.
Wizards of the Coast announced the collection on November 3. Its non-foil version costs $39.99, while the traditional foil edition is $49.99. Half of online sales, after third-party transaction fees, will support Extra Life and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Sword of Truth and Justice costs three mana and gives its equipped creature +2/+2 and protection from white and blue. When that creature deals combat damage to an opponent, its controller puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature they control, then proliferates. The sword costs two mana to equip. Recent market prices cited for its original non-foil printing are around $29.
The collection also reprints Balefire Dragon, a seven-mana 6/6 with flying. When it deals combat damage to a player, it deals the same amount of damage to every creature that player controls. Ordinary non-foil copies have generally sold for $15 to $20, according to the source.
The other cards are Young Pyromancer, which creates Elemental tokens when its controller casts an instant or sorcery, and Big Score, a red instant that lets its caster discard cards to draw new ones and create Treasure tokens. Together, the cited market values for Sword of Truth and Justice and Balefire Dragon amount to roughly $45 or more, depending on the versions compared.
The artwork takes a step beyond the 16-bit look of the 2024 Extra Life collection, Pixel Perfect, with chunky character models and a late-1990s role-playing game style.
Rise of the Polygons | Extra Life 2026 will be available through the official Secret Lair store from November 16 until November 30 at 1 a.m. PT. MagicCon: Atlanta attendees can also buy it early from November 13 to 15, though quantities will be limited. Wizards says proceeds from the drop and its Extra Life merchandise at the event will go to the cause.
