Marty O’Donnell, known for composing music for Halo and Destiny, is projected to lose his bid for a seat in the US House of Representatives. He ran as a Republican in Nevada’s Third Congressional District against incumbent Democrat Susie Lee.

The Associated Press called the race at 9 a.m. At the time of the report, Lee had 59.1 percent of the vote, compared with O’Donnell’s 38.6 percent, a gap of more than 51,000 votes. The AP estimated that 86 percent of ballots had been counted.

O’Donnell composed music for several Bungie games, including Halo, Destiny, Myth and Oni. He entered politics after leaving the studio in 2014 and campaigned on economic improvement, support for small businesses, border security and anti-corruption measures.

His campaign did not accept corporate political action committee money, but received financial support from the Trump-linked Safety and Affordability Super PAC, which withdrew $2 million in funding the previous month. O’Donnell had also faced scrutiny during the campaign over past comments opposing same-sex marriage and describing LGBTQA+ people as an “existential threat.”
