Developed and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch 2, the game was released on October 21. The series began on Wii with Wii Sports, and Resort is described as its fifth installment.
Once again set in the Wuhu archipelago, the game lets players take part as either a Sportsmate or a Mii. It features 12 sports and activities: archery, boxing, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, bowling, skateboarding, watercraft racing, golf, seaplane activities, thumb challenges and rope skipping.
Gameplay uses motion controls, along with the mouse mode introduced with Nintendo Switch 2. Players can also freely explore the island to find collectibles, adding further content beyond the individual sporting events.
The game includes online play, with matches against players from around the world organized by discipline and skill level. A free-play mode is also available for non-competitive sessions.
