In celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise and coinciding with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, Nintendo is set to launch a special edition Switch 2. This new console features custom designs themed around Link and Zelda, marking another milestone in the company's tradition of releasing hardware dedicated to the iconic series.
This upcoming release follows several notable limited-edition consoles previously introduced by Nintendo. One such example is the Nintendo 2DS Link Edition, which debuted during the Christmas season of 2017. This model replaced the standard black or white finish with a green color scheme inspired by Link's tunic, while all buttons were colored yellow to match the character's outfit. On the current second-hand market, this specific console commands a price of approximately 400 euros.
Another significant release was the New Nintendo 3DS XL Hyrule Edition. This device features a black body accented with gold details and a top cover engraved with the Hylian Crest logo. Collectors looking to acquire this model today can expect to pay between 300 and 350 euros on the used market.
The Game Boy Advance SP Zelda edition is also recognized as one of the most aesthetically pleasing Nintendo consoles ever produced. Known for its compact and minimalist design, this version is distinguished by a gold finish and the Triforce symbol embossed on the upper shell. Similar to the other special editions, a used unit of this console currently sells for around 300 euros.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, exclusively for the Switch 2. Developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo, the title falls under the Action RPG genre.
