The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been rebuilt from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2, and Digital Foundry has praised it as one of Nintendo’s most beautiful games. The assessment aligns with the positive impressions reported in a review of the remake, which is set to arrive on November 5.

Digital Foundry describes the presentation as visually striking, with detailed environments, dynamic atmospheric effects, global illumination and rich ambient shadows. These features give the game’s locations and dungeons a more modern look while preserving the appeal of the original’s design.

The analysis also points to limitations in image quality. The game uses SMAA and AMD FSR 1, which can produce more aliasing and less sharpness than expected around some geometric edges.

On a docked Switch 2, the remake runs at resolutions between 1080p and 1440p. In handheld mode, it ranges from 720p to 1080p. Despite the image-quality trade-offs, Digital Foundry says the visual detail and atmosphere make for a strong presentation.

The remake runs at 60 frames per second in both docked and handheld modes, compared with 20fps for the original, with performance described as smooth and consistent.
