Pikmin 4 is set to receive a dedicated version for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, launching on November 12. This new edition will include a fresh gameplay mode titled Dandori Academy, which functions as a timed exam challenge. During a surprise Pikmin Day Direct broadcast held yesterday, Nintendo showcased one of these exams, Gargantuan Garden, where players must collect gold nuggets before the timer expires.

In addition to the new mode, the Switch 2 Edition introduces voice command functionality for Oatchi, the canine companion featured in the game. Players who already own Pikmin 4 on the original Nintendo Switch can purchase an upgrade pack via the eShop to access these enhancements. A demo of the title will be available on the eShop starting November 2, with any progress made during the trial transferring directly to the full game upon purchase.

The announcement came during a broadcast where Nintendo had previously warned that no new game titles would be revealed. Instead, legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto introduced Japanese actor Fuka Koshiba as the new ambassador for the series and officially designated November 1 as Pikmin Day. This release marks one of two major Nintendo launches scheduled for this month, following The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on November 5. Pikmin 4 originally debuted on the standard Switch in July 2023.
