Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone says the game’s 1.7 update is expected to arrive in 2027 and is shaping up to be the largest update the game has received so far. He shared the news during the final show of the game’s soundtrack tour at Colorado’s Red Rocks late last month, where he appeared to thank fans for their support.
Barone described the update as “jam-packed” and said that Sandy and Clint are only a small part of what is planned. He also confirmed that both characters will become eligible for marriage, while keeping most of the update’s contents secret.
Other possible additions mentioned in the report include improvements to the game’s children, a new farm map and an editor that could let players customize farm layouts. Social features for sharing map designs are also a possibility, but these details have not been confirmed by Barone.
The update is being developed as Barone works on Haunted Chocolatier, his next game. He has described that project as more of an Action RPG, with themes that are somewhat darker than Stardew Valley’s.
