The memory shortage may worsen before it improves, according to TeamGroup CEO Chen Ching. He expects the tightest supply conditions to continue from now until the middle of 2027 and says memory prices are unlikely to fall during that year.

Chen warned that DRAM could become so scarce that buyers may be unable to find products even if they are willing to pay. “Right now you can still buy goods, they’re just expensive,” he said. “In a little while, you may not be able to buy goods at all.”

His comments came after TeamGroup reported record quarterly revenue of NT$10.139 billion, about US$308 million, up 34% from the previous quarter. The company has shifted more of its business toward enterprise and data centre customers: those sales now account for two-thirds of its business, compared with a quarter previously.

Chen said TeamGroup’s vendor relationships should help it secure inventory, although the company may have to pay premium spot prices. He expects supply to remain the central challenge, with memory supply and demand unlikely to reach equilibrium before the second half of 2028, and potentially later. He questioned how prices could decline if products are no longer available.
