The Citadel Project is a dark fantasy immersive sim that combines stealth with survival-horror elements. Set inside a vast medieval structure, the game casts players as an ordinary prisoner who escapes from a cell and tries to uncover what has gone wrong within the Citadel.
The Citadel was built by the Ancient Kings as a final refuge for humanity against the Great Storm. Now, an unknown force is corrupting it from within, and its inhabitants appear to be affected by a parasite. The game’s shadowy environments offer places to hide as players make their way through the structure.
Players carry a crossbow with several types of ammunition. Fire bolts can ignite enemies or objects, rope bolts can help with climbing or escaping danger, and decoy bolts create noise to distract foes. The game also features moss bolts, though their function is not specified. Cutting away the parasites is presented as useful when dealing with infected enemies.
A demo of The Citadel Project is available on Steam. The game is scheduled to enter Early Access on November 11.
