Eight years after announcing the next Elder Scrolls game, Bethesda has confirmed its title: The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The name was revealed in a video celebrating the studio’s 40th anniversary, narrated by Bethesda director Todd Howard.
The video looks back at the studio’s history, from its early game Gridiron to the Elder Scrolls series, before turning to Bethesda’s future projects. Howard said the anniversary was an appropriate moment to answer the question players have repeatedly asked about the next Elder Scrolls game, then revealed its name.
The video also features a passage attributed to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell in the year 4E 206. The quote refers to a vision of the future and the scattering of time. Based on that date, the game’s events would take place at least five years after Skyrim, according to the source cited in the original report.
Bethesda did not announce further details. However, Sentinel is a major kingdom in Hammerfell and the capital of the Alik’r Desert, while the teaser’s sandy backdrop points toward that region as the likely setting. The reveal follows the mountainous landscape shown in the game’s 2018 announcement.
