Bethesda has announced that its next Elder Scrolls game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. But the title reveal does not mean the long-awaited RPG is close to release: Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier says it is still more than two years away.
In a social media post, Schreier noted that the game was announced in 2018 alongside Starfield, at a time when Bethesda was also working on Fallout 76. He said the announcement was intended to reassure players that the studio had single-player projects in development as well.
Schreier’s comments suggest fans should not expect to play the game soon. Bethesda has announced the title but has not confirmed which platforms it will be released on.
The Elder Scrolls VI is the follow-up to Skyrim, Bethesda’s open-world role-playing game. Players have been waiting for the next instalment for more than a decade.
