The Harfoots will appear in Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, co-showrunner Patrick McKay has confirmed. Their part will be more limited than in the series’ first two seasons, as the new story puts Sauron and the One Ring at its center.

Speaking at a press event, McKay said he and fellow co-showrunner J.D. Payne wanted to make the season more focused, psychological and emotional, with a darker tone. The season follows Sauron’s attempt to forge the One Ring, a storyline they aimed to use to connect the show’s different threads.

McKay said the Harfoots, including characters played by Markella Kavenagh and Megan Richardson, would return, possibly sooner than viewers expect. However, the show has not yet revealed how they will contribute to the effort to stop Sauron or how much screen time they will receive.

At the end of Season 2, Nori Brandyfoot and Poppy Proudfellow left the Stranger and joined the Stoors in search of a new home after the Dark Wizard destroyed their canyon. The Stranger was called “Grand Elf” by the Stoors in the finale, giving rise to the name Gandalf.

Season 3 picks up five years later and follows the war to prevent Sauron from forging the One Ring and bringing its peoples under his will. The season will also introduce new characters, including an enigmatic orc who may or may not be an ally to the Elves.

The first four episodes are scheduled to premiere on November 11, 2026. Episodes 305 and 306 will arrive on November 18, followed by the final two episodes on November 25.
