The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake launches in the U.S. on November 5 and is already available to some Switch 2 owners elsewhere. Early reviews have been positive, but they also confirm that the game does not include a Master Quest mode.
Master Quest is a reworked, more difficult version of Ocarina of Time. It first appeared on GameCube in 2003 and was also included in the game’s 3DS remaster. Its absence from the Switch 2 remake has disappointed players hoping for an added challenge.
Reviewers Scott White and Alex Donaldson of RPGSite said they wished the remake offered a Hero Mode or Master Quest variant. GamesRadar’s Anna Koselke also noted that the game has no Master Quest option, leaving her wishing there were more to explore or a way to replay without affecting her existing progress.
The original Ocarina of Time is available through Switch Online, but Master Quest is not included there either. The source says a future update or a later addition to Switch 2’s GameCube library is possible, but Nintendo has not announced one.
