Ubisoft has announced a significant surprise for fans of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, confirming that the title will finally receive the highly requested New Game+ mode. The free update is scheduled to launch on November 5th, arriving nearly six years after the game's initial release in November 2020. This decision comes as a notable shift in strategy, as Ubisoft had officially ruled out the possibility of this feature in 2022, citing the game's structure and depth as obstacles to creating a justified replay experience.
The company has reversed its position to celebrate the milestone of Valhalla surpassing 40 million players. As is standard for this type of mode, New Game+ will allow players to restart Eivor's story while retaining significant progress from previous playthroughs, including favorite equipment. The update will also incorporate specific scaling mechanisms designed to adapt the challenge level for more advanced characters.
Beyond the replayability options, the update introduces several other major features. A new optional progression system will be implemented where equipment, runes, and masteries contribute to Eivor's overall power. Additionally, the patch will add new runes, achievements, a storage system, and extra rewards. Among these rewards is a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe, a protagonist from Assassin's Creed Shadows.
A new resource called mithril will also be introduced, enabling players to upgrade divine gear and enhance runes. Furthermore, all items will now be capable of reaching divine quality, expanding customization and progression possibilities. Ubisoft plans to publish full patch notes in the coming days, along with information regarding future updates for current-generation consoles. The developer is also seeking player feedback on this New Game+ implementation, noting that community responses could influence whether similar updates are introduced to other titles in the Assassin's Creed franchise.
