Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic is moving its centrally planned city-building simulation into space with the Space Program DLC, scheduled for release on November 23. The expansion will introduce new technologies and types of industry, with players tasked with coordinating the production needed to build rockets and support space exploration.

The focus extends beyond launching rockets to the scientific and industrial systems behind them. Players will need to organise production so that components are made to a high standard and delivered in the quantities required. The expansion also includes the Sputnik and Vostok programs, pointing to a historical element in its depiction of the space race.

A 1960s campaign will serve as an introduction to the new mechanics. It is described as a setting where players can learn them “in relative peace,” surrounded by a “happy, healthy, and economically stable utopia.” The DLC also refers to “an unprecedented duel with nature,” though it is unclear whether that means the challenges of space itself or something else.
