Microsoft has officially launched the October update for its Xbox consoles, which is now available for download. This significant system software revision introduces ten new functionalities designed to enhance user experience and customization options.
A headline feature of this update is the arrival of Mythic Achievements. These special rewards are granted to players who complete all original achievements within a base game. Notably, earning this status does not require completing any downloadable content (DLC) or subsequent updates associated with the title.
The update also expands personalization options by allowing users to select their preferred console startup animation. Players can now choose from a variety of boot sequences ranging from the Xbox One era up to the current generation.
Significant improvements have been made to the dashboard interface. Users can now remove items from their recent games list to maintain a cleaner home screen. Additionally, a new immersive mode has been added, which hides menus to better showcase the user's background image. Storage management has also been simplified, enabling players to view, sort, and delete local save files that are no longer needed.
Performance and connectivity features have received upgrades as well. Remote Play now supports resolutions up to 1440p for sharper image quality. Games available via Xbox Cloud Gaming will now appear directly in the standard games list, and downloads can continue in the background while playing cloud titles. Other additions include a new local search function within lists, security improvements for Party Chat, a portal to manage old digital licenses, and more detailed information regarding profile badges.
The update also addresses several technical issues. Microsoft has implemented fixes for black screen problems during startup, unexpected download interruptions, and memory errors affecting users with very large game libraries.
