Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil is now available to rent or purchase digitally through services including Prime Video, arriving just over 45 days after its theatrical release. The film can be purchased digitally for $24.99, while DVD, Blu-ray and 4K editions are available to preorder. A release date for the DVD has not been announced.

The zombie film has earned more than $400 million at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing video game movie, according to the source report. Another $30 million would give it a chance to enter the top 10 highest-grossing horror films of all time.

Cregger has previously spoken about feeling that discussion before the film’s release focused heavily on how it related to the Capcom games, including calls from fans for a direct adaptation featuring characters such as Leon Kennedy. He said he chose to adapt the feeling of playing Resident Evil rather than a specific game.

The theatrical release also coincided with increased sales of Resident Evil 2 Remake on PS5, which rose by more than 50% during the week the film opened, according to the source report.

A streaming release date has not been announced. The film is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, which signed a new Pay-1 deal with Netflix earlier this year.
