Zach Cregger's latest adaptation of Resident Evil has emerged as the most successful entry in the franchise's history, generating over $400 million globally at the box office. As audiences look forward to viewing the film from home, reports indicate that the digital release is set for November 3. According to Fandango, this date marks when viewers will be able to purchase or rent the movie digitally, while a physical Blu-ray edition is anticipated to arrive at a later stage.

The film is also expected to eventually reach streaming services. Given the multi-billion-dollar Pay-1 window agreement between Netflix and Universal Pictures, the new entry should land on the streaming platform in due course. In the meantime, Netflix has expanded its catalog of Resident Evil content by adding Paul W.S. Anderson's original 2002 film and its sequel, Resident Evil: Apocalypse. These titles join other entries already available on the service, including Afterlife, Retribution, Extinction, and The Final Chapter, alongside the 2022 television series.

Despite the upcoming home video launch, the movie will continue its theatrical run with a return to IMAX and other premium large format screens. Director and co-writer Zach Cregger recently addressed the initial backlash from the hardcore gaming community, admitting he should have anticipated that fans might not immediately embrace his vision. However, following the film's critical acclaim and financial success, Cregger expressed feeling gratified by the outcome.

Although the filmmaker has mentioned having ideas for future Resident Evil movies, he has confirmed he will not pursue them. Instead, Cregger plans to focus exclusively on original, non-franchise projects moving forward. His next endeavor is a science fiction film titled The Flood, which stars Jennifer Lawrence.
