The cast of Ahsoka season 2 has offered several hints about the Star Wars series’ return to Disney Plus on January 20, 2027. During a panel at Los Angeles Comic-Con, Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Eman Esfandi discussed what viewers can expect from the next season. The full panel was later uploaded unofficially to YouTube, according to Star Wars News Net.

One of the main teases concerned Grand Admiral Thrawn. Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger, suggested that the character will receive considerably more screen time, describing him as a “very specific war criminal” whom audiences enjoy watching. Thrawn, a popular figure from the former Expanded Universe, returned to official Star Wars continuity through Star Wars Rebels, where he was connected to several characters who now appear in Ahsoka.

Esfandi also indicated that season 2 will feature more familiar faces from Rebels. He specifically mentioned Chopper, the astromech also known as C1-10P, and joked about the droid’s demanding behavior on set. According to Esfandi, Chopper will have a substantial presence, alongside other well-known characters whose live-action appearances will be expanded. He did not identify the additional characters.

The production also appears to have made greater use of outdoor locations. The first season relied heavily on The Volume, a large LED-screen stage used to create digital environments around the performers. Dawson said that the second season involved much more filming outside, bringing challenges such as heat, cold, rain and slippery conditions, but also giving the cast a stronger physical connection to the settings.

Bordizzo, who plays Sabine Wren, likewise said she appreciated being outdoors rather than simulating outdoor environments on a stage. The cast’s comments suggest that Ahsoka season 2 will combine a larger role for Thrawn, more appearances by Rebels favorites and a different production approach when the series returns in January.
