Arkane Lyon’s future and the fate of Marvel’s Blade remain uncertain as the studio looks for a definitive buyer. The French video game union STJV has accused Microsoft of undermining the game’s development, although it says work on the project is generally progressing well and its expected quality remains in line with Arkane’s standards.
The union says Microsoft’s 19-month freeze on hiring slowed development and created additional costs. It alleges that the company is now citing those delays and expenses as a reason to close the studio, despite having funded the game. The STJV also describes the potential closure as driven by Microsoft’s pursuit of profit.
The union is asking Microsoft and Xbox to give employees a say in any sale of Arkane. If the studio closes, it is calling for €200,000 in severance for workers and two years of career-placement support, fully funded by Microsoft.
