Activision has unveiled the details for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1, marking one of the most significant shifts in the battle royale's history. The update is scheduled to go live this Friday, November 6, and will fully integrate the game with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. For the first time, Warzone will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at no cost, joining PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as supported platforms.
This new season signals the definitive end of support for previous-generation consoles. Starting with this update, Warzone will cease to function on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, players migrating to compatible systems can retain their progress by linking their accounts through Activision.
Season 1 introduces two primary battle royale maps set in the Korean peninsula. The first is Hajin, a massive map featuring 13 points of interest ranging from urban districts and rural areas to military facilities and a political prison. This environment will include variable weather conditions and a new Gulag for one-on-one combat. The second map is Zodiac, a Resurgence mode developed by Beenox in collaboration with Infinity Ward. Set within drone assembly facilities in South Korea, Zodiac offers ten points of interest, underground routes, and interactive elements such as moving trains.
In addition to the new locations, popular maps Verdansk and Rebirth Island will return during the season. New limited-time modes are also arriving, including Massive Resurgence, which supports matches with up to 120 players. Gameplay mechanics are being expanded with a zipline launcher for building traversal, a drone capable of retrieving items and reviving downed teammates, new special perks, and additional equipment. Players will also be able to drag fallen allies while reviving them.
The integration with Modern Warfare 4 allows access to its 33 launch weapons alongside new seasonal additions, unifying progression across multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone. Operators, cosmetics, and weapon blueprints from previous releases will be preserved. All these features will be available for free on the supported platforms starting November 6, with further updates planned for the coming weeks.
