Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 displays significantly worse input lag on the Nintendo Switch 2 compared to the PlayStation 5, a discrepancy that could place Nintendo users at a competitive disadvantage in multiplayer matches. According to a technical review by Digital Foundry, latency measurements for wireless controllers showed an average of 81ms when the console was docked and 100ms in portable mode. In contrast, the PS5 version recorded a much lower latency of 49ms using a DualSense controller. The portable mode results on Switch 2 ranged from a best-case scenario of 83ms to a worst-case of 125ms.

Digital Foundry stated that the responsiveness on the Nintendo hardware simply does not match other consoles, describing the lag in portable mode as actually deleterious to performance. Despite these latency issues, the review remains largely positive regarding the port's overall stability. The multiplayer component maintains a frame rate of 60fps for most of the time, with VRR support helping to mask occasional drops on compatible displays. The campaign mode is capped at 30fps and utilizes dynamic resolution scaling.

In terms of visual fidelity, the docked version targets 900p with DLSS enabled, though Digital Foundry observed resolutions dropping to 450p during intense sequences like the Paris vehicle chase. Portable mode targets 720p but can dip as low as 360p. This release marks the return of the Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo hardware after a 13-year absence, following Ghosts on the Wii U in 2013. The game's presence on the platform is attributed to a 10-year deal Microsoft offered Nintendo during its regulatory process for acquiring Activision Blizzard for $69 billion.
