Nikita Buyanov, game director of Escape from Tarkov, has revealed Fragmentary Order, a new sci-fi tactical shooter. Its first gameplay showcase runs for 14 minutes and features in-engine footage of combat, looting, inventory management and weapon customization.
Set in the Solar System in 2251, the game depicts warfare as an outsourced business. Players control remotely operated clones called RepEnts, who are sent into large combat zones to complete dangerous missions. Losing a clone is treated as a business cost, though the game still calls for caution and planning.
Fragmentary Order includes vehicles, drones, advanced technology and changing environmental conditions. Players can form squads of up to four, with coordination intended to be an important part of surviving encounters. The footage shows mechanics familiar from Escape from Tarkov, but in a futuristic setting.
Buyanov also announced Prime Batch, a paid closed testing program. The Candidate tier costs $44.99 and includes alpha sessions, major technical playtests, a Candidate ranking and an exclusive in-game package. The $79.99 Founder tier includes those benefits, as well as earlier access to experimental builds, roadmap visibility, a Founder package and entry to a private community with direct developer access.
The first closed alpha wave is planned for later this year and will take place under a nondisclosure agreement. Fragmentary Order does not yet have a confirmed full release date.
