A fan has built a makeshift cemetery outside Electronic Arts’ offices to commemorate studios that have closed under the company. The display, created for Halloween, features gravestones bearing studio logos, founding and closure dates, and the word “RIP.”
The tribute includes BioWare, alongside Maxis, Visceral, Pandemic, Westwood and Origin. The studios were associated with franchises and games including Mass Effect, Dragon Age, SimCity, Star Wars: Battlefront and Destroy All Humans!.
BioWare’s inclusion has drawn attention from fans after the studio’s 31-year history, during which it developed series such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age, as well as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. The report describes the studio as the latest casualty of EA’s business decisions.
Meanwhile, the #SaveMassEffect campaign is continuing to gather signatures and is approaching 300,000 supporters, according to the report. It also claims that BioWare’s closure was linked to a decision to develop Star Wars: Battlefront 3 instead of a new Mass Effect universe.
