Jerry Fort, a fan who drew widespread attention for saying he hoped to live long enough to play GTA 6, has died at 25. His family confirmed he passed away on October 29 following complications after lung transplant surgery.

Earlier this year, Fort posted a video from his hospital bed titled “I just want to play GTA VI,” describing his condition and prognosis. The post received millions of views and prompted thousands of comments wishing him well and urging Rockstar Games to help make his wish come true.

A fundraiser organized by his family to help pay for a lung transplant surpassed its initial $15,000 target and raised more than $100,000. Fort and, at times, his sister shared updates about his progress with followers. He underwent the transplant in September, then developed an infection. After battling it for several weeks, he died.

In a later video thanking supporters, Fort said he hoped to stream GTA 6 after recovering, calling that “our goal as a community.”
